Container Shipping 2027: Suez Return Could Leave Capacity 10% Above Demand
Container shipping could enter a much weaker supply-demand environment in 2027. BIMCO expects vessel capacity to grow 9% next year, while a broader return from Cape of Good Hope diversions to the shorter Suez route could release additional effective capacity and leave offered vessel capacity as much as 10% above demand in one scenario.
